Water does the most damage in the first hour, so we keep a plumber on call every night, weekend and holiday. When you call, a real person answers, asks a few questions and tells you how soon we can be there.
What to do while you wait
- Turn off the water at the main stop valve (often under the kitchen sink or where the pipe enters the house).
- Switch off the water heater if the leak is near it.
- Move valuables and electrics away from the water.
- Take a few photos for your insurer.
What counts as an emergency
- A burst or leaking pipe you cannot stop
- No running water in the house
- A blocked or overflowing toilet when it is the only one
- Sewage backing up into a sink, shower or floor drain
- A leaking water heater
